POSITION SUMMARY

PAYROLL ASSISTANT

  • This position requires being on-site Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Join our team as a permanent  Part-Time Payroll Assistant, where you will play a key role in supporting payroll operations and ensuring accurate processing of employee compensation. This position requires attention to detail, proficiency in administrative tasks, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Core Responsibilities :

  • Collect and verify weekly timekeeping information for all employees to ensure accuracy.
  • Input and validate all submitted timesheets promptly with strong attention to detail.
  • Calculate and verify payroll amounts, including adjustments for overtime, deductions, and special rates.
  • Audit and reconcile total hours on timesheets against input data for precision.
  • Maintain meticulous records of hourly rates, wages, and employee onboarding details.
  • Print and distribute payroll checks efficiently.
  • Process direct deposits securely and accurately.
  • Prepare bank deposits compliant with payroll and union requirements.
  • Handle court orders, tax levies, unemployment claims and other financial deductions with strict adherence to regulations.
  • Accurately report employee contributions to 401(k) plans.
  • Distribute comprehensive payroll reports to relevant personnel.
  • Address and resolve employee inquiries and concerns regarding payroll promptly and professionally.
  • Process union reports and payments accurately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support payroll, HR and administrative functions effectively.

    • Essential Qualifications :

  • Prior experience in payroll administration is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles and best practices in payroll.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and familiarity with relevant software applications, IBM and Foundation preferred but not required.
  • Commitment to ethical standards, including maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
