Structural Trades II
The Facilities Department at Front Range Community College provides a safe, clean, and functional facility to enable the faculty, staff, and students to achieve their educational goals. As a Structural Trades II, you will provide skilled trades support in repairs, maintenance, and installations in the areas of carpentry, construction, plumbing, painting, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, door locks, and furniture.
This position requires a strong on-campus presence at the Boulder County Campus, Longmont. This position works the following shift : Monday-Friday, 7 : 00 am 3 : 30 pm.
The Facilities department provides a safe, clean, and functional facility to enable the faculty, staff, and students of FRCC to achieve their educational goals. As a Structural Trades II, you will provide skilled trades support in repairs, maintenance, and installations in the areas of carpentry, construction, plumbing, painting, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, door locks, and furniture. Operate independently without direct supervision to troubleshoot and address issues and prevent problems if possible.
Painting / Light Carpentry
Selects paint and applies to walls, doors, and trim. Seals and applies texture to walls as well as the installation of drywall and patching holes. Installs doors and hinges as well as adjusting door closures. Using appropriate hand and power tools to perform these tasks.
Structural, Plumbing and Door System Repair
Repair and maintenance of plumbing systems and fixtures, including but not limited to, copper piping, faucets, toilets, urinals, and drinking fountains. Kitchen equipment repair and maintenance. Provides troubleshooting, repair and installation of door hardware including proximity door locks and key entry door locks. Repair and replace lock cores as needed.
Assemble / Repair / Troubleshoot Furniture, Equipment, Fixtures
Furniture, fixture, and equipment repair, maintenance, and replacement for entire Boulder County Campus operation. This may include but not limited to classroom chairs, tables, office desks, chairs, cubicles, file cabinets, whiteboards, and corkboards. Includes Assembly of new furniture such as bookshelves, chairs, cabinets and desks.
Furniture / Equipment Inventory Functions
Perform functions for relocation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the entire Boulder County Campus operation. Control on-site inventory and coordinate asset disposal to state surplus and maintain the proper documentation.
Misc Repair and Snow Removal
Operates and maintains a variety of equipment as needed to perform essential functions, but not limited to : pallet jack, truck, hand trucks, dollies and UTV (Utility Terrain Vehicle).
Performs snow / ice removal at entryways as needed. Coordinates snow removal with property management when the Assistant Director is absent.
Minimum requirements include four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the structural trades appropriate to the work assignment (including carpentry, electrical, painting, locksmithing). Alternatively, a combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and / or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to four (4) years. Lived experience qualifications are also considered. Required competencies include operating equipment & tools, customer service, building & construction skills, public safety, communication, maintenance and custodial skills, and technology.
