About The Position

License : Colorado Surgical Assistant License required for employed staff
Certifications : ACLS (AHA) required, BLS (AHA) required
Must-Have : Registered Radiology Technologist R.T. (R) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) required
Description :
Performs imaging procedures, providing safety for self, patients, and all other individuals.
Practices all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing personal and patient exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
Produces quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
Prepares patients for exams.
Provides information and instruction to patients and / or families regarding the procedure and responds to their physical and emotional needs.
Assists patients during exams and positions them appropriately.
Observes patients and equipment during the procedure and reports / documents unusual occurrences, recording patients’ conditions.
Facilitates smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment / resources.
Communicates in writing and verbally with all physicians, imaging personnel, students, and staff in facilitating the continuum of care.
Assists with patient transport as needed.
Performs IV starts and contrast administration as required.
As assigned by management, performs technologist duties of other registered modalities.
Ability to provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department policy.
Correctly inputs charges and required data for procedures and supplies utilized during the procedure / exam.
Completes required medical imaging paperwork for each exam performed.
Prepares room, equipment, and exam materials needed for each exam.
Maintains technical operation of equipment and notifies service when necessary.
Notifies supervisor of equipment problems and logs service calls per departmental procedure.
Maintains a clean work area for employees and patients.
Maintains quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation per departmental procedure.
Proactive in problem identification and following up with appropriate personnel.
Establishes a motivating, constructive rapport with physicians and staff.
Maintains a high skill level through ongoing education and meeting attendance, sharing information with staff.
Participates in clinical training for students and / or staff technologists.
Engages in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, and online education.
Actively participates in departmental and hospital quality and process improvement initiatives.
Maintains compliance with all State, Federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards.
Responsible for contributing to accreditation as requested.
Demonstrates effective time management and is proactive in prioritizing workload and meeting productivity requirements.
Effectively assists physicians in performing a variety of highly specialized cardiovascular procedures, including but not limited to, diagnostic and interventional catheterization, pacemaker / defibrillator implantation, intra-aortic balloon pump operation, and electrophysiology studies.
Floating may be required to any location within sixty (60) miles of the original assignment location or designated float zone.
Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements in accordance with policy.
High School Diploma / G.E.D. required.
Associate Degree strongly preferred.
One year imaging experience strongly preferred.
Experience in invasive cardiovascular technology preferred.
Cardiac diagnostic / interventional procedural experience preferred.
