Job description : Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled  Maintenance Technician with expertise in industrial refrigeration systems  to join our food manufacturing team. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing refrigeration, related equipment to ensure continuous and safe operations in compliance with food safety standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge in ammonia and / or Freon-based systems, preventive maintenance programs, and is committed to supporting a safe, efficient, and compliant production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform  routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance  on refrigeration equipment, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, motors, and controls.
  • Monitor and adjust refrigeration and HVAC systems to maintain  required product temperatures and safe operating conditions .
  • Diagnose equipment failures and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain compliance with  OSHA, EPA, FDA, GMP, HACCP, and PSM  standards and company safety programs.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new refrigeration and facility equipment.
  • Assist with utilities (compressed air, boilers, water systems) and general plant maintenance as needed.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, and EHS teams to ensure operational safety and efficiency.
  • Participate in and support  Process Safety Management (PSM) and Mechanical Integrity programs .

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 + years’ experience  in industrial maintenance, with at least 4  years focused on refrigeration systems  in a manufacturing environment (food / beverage preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of  refrigeration systems .
  • Experience with  PLC-controlled systems  and electrical troubleshooting a plus.
  • Familiarity with  GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and food safety compliance requirements .
  • Ability to read and interpret  blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals .
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain  EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification ; RETA certification a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work  flexible shifts, weekends, and participate in on-call rotations .
