International Regulatory Affairs Specialist

This newly created position supports the growing international regulatory workload. The role is action-oriented and project-based, requiring hands-on chemical regulatory expertise and the ability to pivot quickly between tasks. The position supports compliance efforts across Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Asia, and assists with EU exports from the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to international regulatory requests regarding labels, customs, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with R&D on formulation reviews and with Sales on customer inquiries.
  • Develop country-specific regulatory profiles.
  • Manage shifting priorities and urgent documentation needs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • Regulatory affairs expertise.
  • Hands-on chemical regulatory experience (excluding pharma, food, or cosmetics).
  • Familiarity with international regulations such as REACH, GHS, SDS, and chemical inventories.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with R&D and Sales.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in the paint / coatings industry.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations (IATA, DOT, IMDG) is a bonus but not required.
  • Strong multitasking and project management abilities in a fast-paced, non-routine environment.
  • Proactive communication and responsiveness.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Initiative and independence in managing projects.
  • Work Environment

    The work environment is fast-paced and project-based, with shifting priorities driven by international regulatory needs. No two days are the same. The role requires regular collaboration with R&D and Sales, and encourages independent project ownership. The position offers a hybrid workweek with three days in the office and two days remote. While flexibility is needed to accommodate global time zones, the team values work-life balance and avoids excessive hours. This is a growth-focused opportunity to help shape regulatory processes as they expand internationally.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vernon Hills, Illinois.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00 / hr.
