About the Role

Innovation Consulting LLC is seeking a Senior Accountant for a special project engagement with a leading California energy client. This hybrid role (3 days onsite in downtown Los Angeles) is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys cross-functional collaboration, data analysis, and process improvement.

This is a long-term project assignment (Nov 2025 – Mar 2027) offering competitive pay, full benefits from day one, and the opportunity to work with a respected organization in the utilities and regulatory sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support month-end close, including journal entries, financial reporting, and variance / flux analysis.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and unbilled revenue accruals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to prepare forecasts of regulatory accounts.
  • Prepare and submit monthly / quarterly reports and filings to regulatory agencies related to revenues and gas throughput.
  • Provide support for SOX testing and quarterly internal control certifications.
  • Implement new cost recovery mechanisms or regulatory accounts per CPUC authorizations, resolutions, and advice letters.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests from the CPUC, external auditors, and internal auditors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; proven ability to manage and interpret large data sets.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, SOX controls, and regulatory accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (ERP experience strongly preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable switching between multiple projects.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to accuracy and process improvement.

  • Schedule : Monday–Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. – 5 : 00 p.m.
  • Hybrid : 3 days onsite (Monday–Thursday)
  • Start Date : November 10, 2025
  • End Date : March 2027
