Pay Rate : $117.47–$130.14 per hour

Shift / Hours :

1st Shift — Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. – 5 : 00 p.m. PST

Job Summary :

The IT Senior Project Manager will lead strategic planning and execution within the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) 2.0 Program for a major California utility. This role is responsible for technical blueprinting, resource planning, vendor coordination, and solution design to support a large-scale grid modernization initiative. The ideal candidate combines deep technical proficiency with strong communication and leadership skills, ensuring successful delivery of infrastructure and integration workstreams across IT and business domains.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities :

Lead pre-planning and system integrator engagement activities for AMI 2.0.

Facilitate IT business process mapping, requirements gathering , and technical scoping sessions to align with enterprise goals.

Develop a comprehensive resource plan including roles, skill sets, cost estimates, and effort projections across integration, data, infrastructure, and testing workstreams.

Create and maintain high-level solution blueprints defining scope, schedule, and budget for technical delivery.

Coordinate the Planning & Analyze phases, ensuring design validation, feasibility reviews, and readiness for Build and Test phases.

Collaborate cross-functionally with infrastructure, data, and testing teams to ensure successful technical implementation.

Support vendor engagement, including system integrator coordination and progress tracking.

Identify and manage project risks, dependencies, and critical path items to maintain schedule integrity.

Provide executive-level reporting, updates, and presentations to leadership teams.

Required Skills / Attributes :

Proven experience managing large-scale IT programs and end-to-end project delivery.

Expertise in resource planning, system design, and implementation planning .

Strong knowledge of AMI, Smart Grid , or other large utility technology programs.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to bridge business needs with technical solutions through clear documentation and analysis.

Desired Skills / Attributes :

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience with electric utility technology, infrastructure planning , or modernization initiatives.

Skilled in presenting complex technical information to non-technical and executive audiences .

Background in corporate strategy, strategic planning, or consulting environments preferred.

Required Skills :

Cross-functional leadership in enterprise-scale IT environments
