Job Title : Salvage Yard Technician
Department : Salvage Yard
Reports To : Salvage Yard Supervisor
Working Hours : Monday to Friday 7 AM to 4 PM
Job Summary
The Salvage Yard Technician is responsible for dismantling heavy-duty trucks and equipment, including the removal of engines, transmissions, differentials, and other major components. This role also involves retrieving parts from the salvage yard to fulfill customer requests and assisting customers in locating specific parts on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Dismantle heavy-duty trucks and equipment for parts recovery
- Retrieve and organize parts from the salvage yard based on customer needs
- Assist customers by guiding them to specific equipment or parts in the yard
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Operate large equipment and machinery safely and efficiently
- Occasionally drive company vehicles for parts transport or related tasks
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED requiredValid driver’s license with a clean driving record (MVR check required)Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift certificationProficient in using torches, hand tools, and other mechanical equipmentAbility to read and follow written and verbal instructionsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsSelf-motivated with strong problem-solving abilitiesBilingual (English / Spanish) preferred, but not requiredPerformance Metrics

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs regularlyFrequent walking, kneeling, climbing, bending, and reachingManual dexterity and physical stamina for extended periods of workAbility to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditionsClear verbal communication and hearing ability for safety and customer interactionComfortable working around heavy machinery, tools, and potentially hazardous materialsTools & Equipment
Technicians are required to provide their own basic mechanic hand toolsValley will supply standard power tools and specialty equipment as neededEmployees must have their own tools upon hire or acquire them within 90 to 180 days of employmentA tool list will be provided during onboarding to ensure proper preparationTravel Requirements
