The salary range for this position is $52,593.71 to $86,166.03 for Schedule A, and $52,593.71 to $81,857.73 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band / level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

The New Jersey Judiciary, Monmouth Vicinage, has an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to work as an Administrative Specialist 2, Bilingual Spanish / English to support the administrative functions of the Office of the Ombudsman. The successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to provide high quality customer service, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, adhere to deadlines, show attention to detail and accuracy, maintain confidentiality, and possess integrity. The successful candidate must be able to work on multiple assignments, ensuring effective time management and prioritization of the same, while participating as a positive member of a professional team.

The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Duties include (but are not limited to) the following :

  • Answering questions posed by judges, the public, clients, customers, complainants, co-workers, subordinates or supervisors
  • Drafting correspondence, reports, or proposals
  • Explaining Judiciary policies or procedures
  • Informing clients or customers of available agency support programs or services
  • Referring individuals to appropriate federal, state, county or local agencies
  • Reviewing clients' or customers' records
  • Verifying entered data against source documents
  • Verifying clients' or customers' information
  • Providing quality customer service to court users and / or internal customers
  • Compiling records or other written materials
  • Determining the status of complaints in accordance with established procedures or regulations
  • Interviewing clients or customers for needed information and documenting acquired information
  • Interviewing complainants and documenting acquired information
  • Developing manuals, guides, audio-visual aids, or other materials
  • Assembling materials
  • Designing forms, newsletters, flyers, brochures, booklets, and other documents for publication
  • Developing block diagrams, flow charts, graphs or other illustrative presentations
  • Collecting data
  • Establishing and / or maintain record keeping and / or tracking systems
  • Recommending improvements in operating procedures, programs, standards, work processes, or administrative practices
  • Suggesting improvements in work unit operation
  • Coordinating and scheduling meetings and other events based on availability
  • Recommending purchases of equipment, materials, or supplies
  • Reviewing court activities for compliance with procedures, laws, court rules, or administrative directives
  • Providing staff support to the Advisory Committee on diversity, inclusion and community engagement
  • Organizing and assisting in executing recruitment, community outreach events, diversity programs, and webinars / trainings.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.

Substitution : Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and / or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate's degree and two years of additional paraprofessional and / or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Candidates selected to serve in a bilingual variant title must pass the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Bilingual Communicative Ability Test (BICAT) performance examination or provide proof of having established bilingual proficiency with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. Degrees conferred outside of the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.

Driver's License : Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position. Authorization to Work : US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. Special Note : Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information. Residency Law : In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52 : 14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.

The NJ Judiciary requires all applicants to complete the application process fully and as instructed.
