Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement of raw ingredients essential to our food manufacturing operations. In this role, you will manage a team of 3 buyers and oversee all purchasing activities to ensure ingredient quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. You will play a critical role in maintaining supplier relationships, optimizing inventory levels, and supporting our production and R&D efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of 3 buyers, providing direction, support, and performance management.

Oversee the sourcing and procurement of raw ingredients used in food manufacturing, with an emphasis on quality, cost, and reliability.

Develop and manage supplier relationships, including negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts.

Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production to understand ingredient needs and ensure supply continuity.

Monitor market trends, pricing, and availability of ingredients to inform purchasing strategies.

Implement and maintain purchasing best practices, including forecasting, inventory optimization, and cost control.

Analyze supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.

Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to broader supply chain goals.

Ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards in procurement processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Food Science, or a related field.

5+ years of purchasing / procurement experience, preferably in the food or manufacturing industry.

2+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

Strong understanding of raw material sourcing, vendor management, and procurement strategy.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a strong attention to detail.
