The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the engineering team assigned to them that designs and / or tests components and products related to distributed energy resources (DERs), and power distribution products for microgrid, EV charging, crypto mining and data center markets. The engineering team is a multi-discipline team of engineers that support the critical engineering functions and deliverables as products are designed and released to prototype and test using FTI's Product Development Process.

The Engineering Manager will ensure all engineering duties and deliverables are accomplished for all projects. This position will be responsible for leading the team in project scope definition and planning, budget management, making critical decisions, project milestones, engineering resource management, and ensuring project goals are achieved. This position will also work with other disciplines within the organization to understand customer and market requirements, provide input to ensure products to be easy to both manufacture and assemble, support those products as they go through the Product Development Process, and support service and aftermarket needs.

This position will provide coaching and mentoring for the team through regular interactions to provide scope and direction for project tasks along with providing growth opportunities to the team. Collaboration between product engineering functions and with team members outside of Engineering will be key to this position.

Minimum Requirements

Education : Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Experience : Minimum 10 years of experience, 15 years of product testing experience preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in leading teams or groups, 8+ years of leading teams or groups preferred. Previous experience in managing large complex projects and teams preferred

  • Exposure to mechanical systems, electronic systems, and controls
  • Experience in product development processes
  • Experience working with AC and DC power sources and related products and systems
  • Experience in the energy sector; with a focus on microgrid, DER products, power distribution systems and enclosures, battery energy storage systems.
  • Experience in business systems, ERP, PDM / PLM
  • Project management experience is a plus

Travel : 10-25%

Work Schedule : This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Works a sufficient schedule to meet the expectations of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and educate the team on engineering requirements
  • Work with all product engineering teams to ensure product assemblies meet operational and safety requirements
  • Provide technical support to all product engineering teams.
  • Support the product engineering team on new system configuration assemblies.
  • Lead a team of engineers, designers, and technicians across multiple disciplines.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate engineering activities to align with product and business strategies to achieve business unit financial goals.
  • Provide coaching and development for team members through regular feedback, work opportunities, training, and field assignments.
  • Collaborate with other functions within the organization to align goals and work product to achieve strategic initiatives.
  • Communicate technical engineering results and decisions to FTI leadership, other internal and external customers to ensure consensus and understanding of requirements and solutions.
  • Demonstrate engineering knowledge and experience in all engineering disciplines related to product development, prototype build and test.
  • Identify and communicate projects risks and develop mitigation solutions.
  • Understands related government and industry standards that govern the products being developed and tested.
  • Provide alignment and guidance with other functional areas of the business to ensure proper communication, risk mitigation, and deliverable handoffs are achieved.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, technological advancement, and regulatory changes to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
