The Opportunity
Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of others? Join us at CSL Plasma, where you will play a vital role in evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. As a key member of our team, you will administer and supervise approved immunizations (excluding red blood cell immunizations) and provide essential emergency medical care to both donors and staff.
You will report directly to the Center Manager, working in a dynamic environment that values your expertise and compassion.
The Role
- Foster Positive Relationships : Promote a welcoming atmosphere for all donors.
- Conduct Confidential Interviews : Gather necessary information to assess donor suitability.
- Collaborate with Medical Professionals : Address medically related questions and provide guidance to staff.
- Perform Health Assessments : Review medical histories and lab results to determine donor eligibility.
- Provide Support : Notify and counsel donors on reactive test results and refer them for follow-up care.
- Explain Informed Consent : Clearly communicate procedures, risks, and immunization schedules to donors.
- Handle Medical Emergencies : Provide routine care and escalate situations as needed.
- Maintain Compliance : Review test results and ensure adherence to SOPs regarding donor suitability.
- Monitor Donor Health : Assess signs that may affect a donor's ability to continue donating.
- Oversee Immunization Programs : Understand and manage hyper immune programs and antibody titer results.
- Ensure Accurate Record-Keeping : Maintain donor data in our electronic management system.
- Promote Safety : Maintain a clean work environment and follow all health and safety regulations.
- Maintain Confidentiality : Protect all personnel and donor information.
- Cross-Training : Be open to learning new skills to meet business needs.
- Bilingual Skills : May be required to enhance communication with donors.
- Additional Duties : Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Your Skills and ExperienceEducation
Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic medical training program.Must have an active state licenseOR, state certification as an Advanced-EMT (AEMT).If graduated from a foreign medical school, must be currently licensed as a physician.Experience
Minimum of one (1) year in a healthcare environment.Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center is preferred.Ability to perform physical assessments and analyze health indicators.Strong communication skills to educate donors and staff about plasma donation benefits.Working Conditions
Ability to make impactful decisions within your work unit.Understand and apply oral and written instructions effectively.Must be able to see and communicate with customers and observe equipment operations.Occasional standing and walking required, up to 100% of the time.Examine and assess skin and other abnormalities through sight, touch, and smell.Physical tasks may include reaching, bending, kneeling, and manual dexterity.Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for specific tasks.Willingness to work overtime and extended hours as needed.Our Benefits
