Project Cost Engineer

Overview

A Cost Engineer is needed for a lead General Contracting Organization for high-profile construction projects in the Richmond, VA area. In this role, you will support successful project delivery through cost tracking, change management, and financial documentation while collaborating closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Construction Management, Finance, or a related field and a foundation in communication, problem-solving, and data analysis. Experience in a collaborative environment is essential, and candidates from smaller construction firms or those transitioning from finance into construction are encouraged to apply as well. Our client requires 2+ years' of related cost work experience. Relocation is available for qualified candidates. Location : Sandston, Virginia. Job type : Permanent. Salary : $90,000 - 105,000 per year. Work hours : 8am to 4pm. Education : Bachelors.

Responsibilities

• Review and respond to subcontractor change requests with data-backed recommendations
• Support MEP manifest billing accuracy and updates
• Track and support subcontractor cashflows and owner billing activities
• Communicate professionally and timely with subcontractors and stakeholders
• Analyze data to support resolution of project cost issues while minimizing risk
• Uphold professionalism and a solution-oriented mindset during conflicts
