We are seeking a DAS RF Field Engineer with substantial experience in data collection, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing DAS. Boingo invests in the latest equipment and technology with a healthy pipeline of projects. This is a hands-on role that requires good field experience, the ability to work independently to troubleshoot and resolve all system issues, ensure the system is performing optimally, and meet key performance indicators (KPIs). Troubleshooting may include onsite work to repair and replace equipment, adjust power levels, investigate issues, and collect data necessary to maintain the health of our DAS deployments. The ideal candidate will have a get-it-done attitude, be a confident problem solver, able to work autonomously, and be a team player.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand iBwave design files and perform RF and site construction surveys.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance for problems escalated to the team.
- Manage quality assurance and KPI reporting, including formal reporting requirements and meetings.
- Provide network optimization analysis and recommendations using simulation and network data.
- Perform system verification and system commissioning for in-building DAS.
- Perform RF site surveys for in-building DAS deployments, evaluating cellular network coverage by collecting and analyzing benchmark data.
- Utilize RF test equipment to measure and analyze critical network parameters specific to in-building DAS systems.
- Evaluate construction aspects of buildings to ensure suitability for in-building DAS systems, including MDF / IDF rooms, riser space, and cable connectivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop strategies for enhancing and optimizing in-building DAS networks based on survey, benchmark, and design analysis.
- Assist Boingo NOC, field operations managers, and carrier partner technical support staff to troubleshoot and repair network-related issues as a third-tier support specialist.
Key Qualifications
Good understanding of RF theory.Experience with data collection tools : PCTEL SeeHawk Touch, TEMS Investigation, Wireless Metrix LML, R&S.Working knowledge of various DAS OEMs : ADRF, Comba, CommScope, JMA, Solid, Corning.Experience with specialized RF test and measurement instrumentation (Spectrum Analyzer, Scanner).Proven ability to work independently with some directions.Ability to multi-task across two or more projects and be results-driven.Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electronic engineering or related discipline.Minimum 3–5 years' experience in cellular, indoor DAS, RF data collection.Understand site surveys and the construction process.Willingness / ability to travel 75% of the time locally and domestically.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Preferred Certifications
