Energy team provides infrastructure solutions for power delivery and renewable energy, offering planning and design for low- to high-voltage facilities. We ensure safe, reliable, and affordable electricity for communities across sectors, including power generation, renewables, and transportation electrification.

The Substation team is seeking a Civil Renewable Energy and Substation Engineer-In-Training who is based near one of DEA's offices in California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Washington. Some travel for project execution may be required.

The Engineer-in-training will coordinate civil and site design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project execution for renewable energy and power delivery projects throughout the Midwest and Western United States.

What You'll Do

• Performs all aspects of substation civil design, including preparation of drawings and details using AutoCAD Civil3D (constraints mapping, demolition and erosion control plans, site layout, fencing and force protection, grading, drainage, and utility design drawings).
• Adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or in a team to complete complex designs.
• Review internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice, and constructability.
• Prepare project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation.
• Attend site meetings and perform site observations during construction.
• Maintain complete project documentation for civil design and construction, including completion packages and record drawings.
• Coordinate design activities with multi-disciplinary project team members and maintain commitments to project teams.
• Maintain relationships with internal groups (Procurement, Drafting, Project Management) and with clients, material suppliers, contractors, and others impacting quality, schedule, and cost.

What You Bring

BSCE from ABET-accredited university

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) licensure or ability to obtain licensure in 6 months
