RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build strong relationships with scholars, families, administrators, and fellow educators.
- Embrace and model The PATH Schools vision, mission, and core values.
- Create a safe and supportive science classroom that fosters curiosity, collaboration, and a love of learning.
- Design and deliver standards-aligned science instruction that integrates reading, writing, inquiry, and critical thinking.
- Use hands-on investigations, lab experiments, and real-world applications to deepen student understanding of scientific concepts.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, using data to inform teaching practices.
- Provide whole-class, small-group, and individualized instruction across scientific disciplines, including physical, life, and earth sciences.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units that connect science to other content areas.
- Administer and interpret assessments to monitor scholar growth and identify areas of need.
- Ensure proper implementation of IEPs, 504s, and behavior plans for students with identified needs.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom activities.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with school and district policies.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively and implement school-wide expectations with consistency and care.
- Participate in school supervision duties (e.g., hallway, lunchroom, arrival / dismissal).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Indiana Teaching License (Science endorsement preferred) or eligibility for licensure through reciprocityBachelors degree in Education, Science, or related fieldClear criminal background check (Required)Strong content knowledge in middle and / or high school scienceExperience using data to guide instruction and improve student outcomesCulturally responsive mindset and a commitment to equity and inclusionStrong communication, organization, collaboration, and classroom management skillsEXPECTATIONS
Participate in school-wide and individual professional development, including two weeks of summer PD and weekly team meetings.Attend school events and functions outside of the regular school day (e.g., science fairs, family nights, field trips, performances).Maintain regular, punctual attendance Monday through Friday.Use classroom technology and instructional tools to support student learning and engagement.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
