Electrical Engineer - Electrical Power System Studies (EHV Focus)

Black & Veatch is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer with deep expertise in Power System Studies, particularly in Extra High Voltage (EHV) systems operating at 345kV and above. This leadership role involves growing, guiding, and mentoring a team of engineers in the development of advanced analytical models and conducting complex studies for utility transmission systems.

The ideal candidate will have experience in EHV transmission systems, including modeling and simulation, and will be able to communicate effectively with internal and external clients. The candidate will also have strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the modeling and simulation of EHV transmission systems.
  • Make EHV study recommendations to influence risk mitigation through project execution plans.
  • Communicate EHV study capabilities to internal and external clients to support project capture and development.
  • Lead and support the preparation of computer-based models for EHV transmission systems.
  • Perform and oversee a wide range of power system studies, including Load Flow and Short Circuit Analysis, Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Studies, and Dynamic Stability Analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard power system modeling and analysis tools.
  • Experience in substation design, including conceptual planning and option development, physical layout and design, protection and control systems, and relay design and coordination.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) License in State of Residence or Project Needs.
