Internship Director The Academy Internship Program
Reports to : Clinical Director
Position Type : Full-time / Exempt
Location : In-person, alternating between our Rosedale and Dundalk locations.

Position Summary
The Internship Director oversees the vision, structure, and scalable growth of The Academy Internship Program at Mindful Healing Works. This role ensures a high-quality training experience that aligns with our clinical standards, cultivating a pathway of clinicians for potential hire within our organization. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, forward-thinking leader with a strong understanding of both clinical education and business development within mental health services. The Internship Director will uphold Mindful Healing Works mission, vision, and values while developing and maintaining relationships with universities to support recruitment, program growth, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Oversight
Design, implement, and continuously refine the structure and curriculum of The Academy Internship Program from recruitment to graduation.Ensure all interns receive high-quality supervision, training, and professional development opportunities aligned with Mindful Healing Works clinical model.Develop systems to monitor intern progress, performance, and compliance with university, ethical and agency standards.Maintain documentation, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and scalability of the program.University & Partnership Relations
Build and maintain strong partnerships with local and regional universities to support ongoing intern placement and collaboration.Gain a strong understanding of each universitys program requirements to inform intern recruitment that aligns with and benefits agency needs.Represent agency in outreach and partnership meetings, serving as a liaison between academic programs and the organization.Communicate with schools throughout the academic year to ensure collaboration and that each intern is consistently meeting expectations.Leadership & Supervision
Provide leadership and oversight to site supervisors and interns, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and clinical excellence.Ensure interns meet expectations for caseload, retention, documentation, and referrals.Conduct individual supervision to foster a growth-oriented, ethical and holistic approach to developing future mental health providers.Implement group, dyad, or triad supervision models where appropriate to maximize supervision efficiency and quality.Proactively address performance concerns and gaps, providing constructive feedback and documented improvement plans as necessary.Report internship progress and key performance metrics to leadership on a weekly basis.Be available to provide crisis support for interns during off hours, evenings or weekends as needed.Mentor and provide professional guidance to interns, helping them understand and navigate the licensure process.Program Growth & Strategy
Identify opportunities for program expansion, increased capacity, and operational efficiency.Apply a business growth mindset to scale the program sustainably while maintaining quality.Track and report program metrics, including intern outcomes, retention, and placement success.Direct Client Care
Be willing to provide counseling coverage and co-facilitate group programs as needed to ensure no gaps in client care.Field and address client concerns in a timely manner and in accordance with agency policies.May carry an individual client caseload based on agency need.Position Requirements
Masters degree in Social Work.Independent clinical licensure (LCSW-C) required.Board-approved social work supervisor.Board-approved non-LCPC professional counselor supervisor, or willing to obtain within one month of hire.Minimum of 35 years of experience in clinical supervision, training, or academic coordination within a behavioral health or educational setting.Exceptional organizational and communication skills.Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.Strategic and growth-oriented mindset, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.Preferred Attributes
Experience managing internship programs or training initiatives in community mental health settings.Familiarity with Medicaid-based mental health services.Proven ability to create and implement scalable systems or programs.Experience in a Director-level role.Familiarity with different therapy modalities, such as CBT, DBT, or EMDR.Compensation
