About The Position

Must-Have :
- 1 year of experience
- Certifications in BLS and NIHSS
- Ability to float to other medical floors as needed
Description :
Position for a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse.
Start date is flexible.
Shift is 3x12 days from 07 : 00 to 19 : 00.
No call requirement is necessary.
Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
The nurse may be required to float to other level 3 medical floors.
One holiday off is guaranteed per contract.
The traveler will work two additional shifts within a six-week period.
The unit has a flexible policy for scheduling these shifts.
Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1 : 5 to 1 : 6.
Travelers may call off up to two times during the assignment without penalty.
If a traveler calls off a third time, the unit manager will address the situation.
Experience with charting systems is preferred.
Experience with community hospital settings is preferred.
Prior charge experience is preferred but not required.
Candidates may have travel experience.
Preferred certifications include ACLS, CPI, OCN, and PALS.
Skills include managing a variety of patient needs such as surgical recovery, wound care, and IV management.
Experience with telemetry and respiratory management is a plus.
The daily census for the unit is approximately 43 patients.
The unit specializes in post-surgical care, general medical conditions, and rehabilitation.
Interdisciplinary support includes various therapy and service teams.
Special equipment includes IV pumps, feeding pumps, and chest tubes.
Travelers are expected to handle their own multiple responsibilities within the unit.
Professional conduct is expected at all times.
Conduct issues may result in contract termination.
RTO requests are limited to a maximum of 10 days.
If RTO is during the holidays, travelers must be willing to work at least one holiday.
