About the Cardiac Med Intermediate Unit :

We are also known as the Progressive Care Unit or PCU. Our unit

is an intermediate unit that is a step down from our transitional care but a step above med / surg as far as patient acuity

Cardiac, Respiratory distress, Septic.

No vents. - Mainly serve cardiac patients, also acute respiratory (no vents / but high flow ) 02 needs / new bipap, etc. then mix of any other disease process in which the physicians determine patient is too sick for floor; but not yet ICU level of care.

Fast paced unit combining aspects of ED and ICU into one department busyness of ED & critical care aspect of ICU.

Requires and builds strong assessment skills and teamwork

Located in Tower B ground floor

30 Patient rooms

1 : 4 or 1 : 5 nurse to patient ratio

Qualifications :

• Required Education : Nursing Degree from an accredited school
• License : current RN license in our state or can be obtained within 90 days
• Certifications :

Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or can be obtained within 90 days
