Tank Barge PIC (Shoreside / MMC Required) – Corpus Christi, TX
PSC Group is seeking a licensed Tank Barge PIC (formerly known as Tankerman) to support the nation's petroleum and chemical shipping industry. The Tank Barge PIC serves as the person-in-charge of critical operations, protecting the environment by ensuring the safe transfer of petrochemicals to barges. This position requires a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC).
Work Schedule
6 days on call (24hr call) and 3 days off (location dependent).
Pay Range
$35.00 - $45.50 per hour, varies with experience. Competitive pay with growth opportunities; mileage reimbursement available and other incentives.
Job Requirements
- Must hold a current U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC) with Tank Barge PIC (DL) Endorsement
- Must have a current TWIC card and valid driver's license (reliable transportation and telephone)
- One year of experience as a Tank Barge PIC preferred

Serve as the Person-In-Charge of the barge, ensuring safe transfer of products to and from vesselsTravel to jobsite as instructed by dispatcher within the allowable time frameCarry equipment from vehicle to facility and ensure necessary tools are on handMeet with facility Person-In-Charge to coordinate transfer expectationsWear all required protective clothing and equipment for safetyInspect the barge prior to transfer for mechanical soundness and safetyCheck the Piping Diagram and COI / COFR to ensure current statusComplete and sign the Declaration of Inspection (DOI)Connect cargo arm or hose and align barge valves for transferInform dispatcher of any irregularities before starting transferStop transfer and notify dispatcher if irregularities occurFor discharge operations, ensure engine and pump are sound before transferMonitor and adjust cargo flow and mooring lines during transferFill or empty the barge as requestedDisconnect cargo arm or hose and complete required paperwork after transferSecure valves and openings and prepare barge for departureNotify dispatch with job information prior to leaving the sitePerform any other duties as assignedJob Qualifications
