About The Position

• Bed Side Shift Reporting (BSSR)
• Utilization of AIDET
• Hourly rounding required

Description :

The Oncology Infusion RN will be responsible for infusing chemotherapy treatments and other infusions in the oncology infusion clinic.

Administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy is required.

The position includes oncology telephone triage and management of ambulatory infusion pumps.

Therapeutic phlebotomies are also part of the role.

The oncology unit typically has 15 chairs.

RNs will usually manage 5 to 8 patients between 08 : 00 and 17 : 00.

The actual number of patients may vary based on the complexity of treatments.

Candidates with travel experience are required.

Ideal candidates will have experience accessing and managing ports, administration of chemotherapy, and managing side effects of treatment.

Charting system experience is preferred.

The unit mainly serves adults and geriatrics.

Daily census is projected to be between 25 to 30 patients.

Interdisciplinary support services include pharmacy, social services, and interpretation services.

Patient diagnoses cover a variety of cancers and hematology diagnoses, particularly iron deficiency anemia and hypogammaglobinemia.

Special procedures include chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration.

Care coordination and patient / family education and support are essential components of the role.
