Director, Business Intelligence & Operations
The Director, Business Intelligence & Operations will be responsible for building and leading a cross-functional operational infrastructure to support the launch and lifecycle of Miltenyi Biomedicine's first CAR T-cell therapy. This highly strategic and hands-on role will oversee key U.S. operational areas including business intelligence, sales operations, marketing operations, government price reporting, and procurement coordination. The role will provide leadership and oversight to a focused U.S.-based team, ensuring compliant and insight-driven execution across incentive compensation, promotional review, congress sponsorships, aggregate spend, and related functional areas.
This position will report to the Executive Director, Business Excellence and will work cross-functionally with Commercial, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Global colleagues to ensure U.S. strategy and operations are aligned with company goals and market needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Lead and oversee two direct reports : one responsible for sales operations, analytics, and government price reporting, and the other for speaker bureau, MLR processes, and grants and sponsorships.
- Provide strategic direction and guidance while empowering team members to manage day-to-day operations and vendor relationships.
- Ensure each team is operationally efficient and delivering on key U.S. objectives while meeting the compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
Business Intelligence & Analytics :
Collaborate with global teams to leverage competitive intelligence and market insights, ensuring U.S. operations are strategically aligned and responsive to industry trends.Oversee the development of market analysis frameworks to track competitor engagement with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the U.S. market.Lead efforts to evaluate and benchmark competitor strategies, including digital engagement, promotional tactics, and pricing, to identify opportunities for U.S. differentiation and innovation.Ensure the team delivers regular, actionable insights on competitor activities and market dynamics to influence U.S. strategy.Marketing & Commercial Operations :
Oversee U.S. execution of marketing operations, including promotional review (MLR) processes, asset management, and event operations (e.g., advisory boards, speaker programs).Ensure compliance with SOPs while optimizing workflows, timelines, and content reuse (e.g., modular content strategies).Collaborate cross-functionally to support the digital transformation of operations through AI-enabled tools and process innovation.Sales Incentive Compensation (IC) :
Partner with HR, Finance, and Sales leadership to design, manage, and monitor U.S. sales incentive compensation (IC) programs.Ensure accurate and timely IC calculations, goal tracking, performance monitoring, and field communications.Support analysis of sales productivity, alignments, and incentive plan effectiveness.Government Price Reporting :
Oversee U.S. government price reporting for key programs, including Medicaid and Medicare, ensuring compliance with relevant price reporting regulations.Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Compliance, and other internal teams to ensure accurate, timely price submissions to federal and state agencies.Lead the compliance efforts for government pricing, ensuring alignment with Miltenyi's strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.Sunshine and Aggregate Spend Reporting :
Oversee the Sunshine Act and Aggregate Spend reporting activities to ensure compliance with transparency regulations (e.g., Open Payments Program).Work with cross-functional teams including Sales, Legal, Compliance, and Finance to ensure accurate and timely reporting of field interactions with healthcare professionals.Ensure all relevant disclosures and filings are completed accurately and on time.Market Access Vendor Coordination :
Oversee coordination with Market Access vendors supporting payor and formulary data aggregation, ensuring integration of these insights into pricing and access strategies.Ensure timely data delivery and actionable analysis to support decision-making by Commercial and Access teams.Congress Support & Sponsorship Reconciliation :
Lead operational support for major U.S. medical and industry congresses in partnership with Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Advocacy.Manage the full lifecycle of sponsorships, exhibits, donations, and memberships, from internal review through contract execution, deliverable tracking, and reconciliation.Ensure all engagements are compliant with internal policies and external regulations, with accurate documentation and post-event reporting.Serve as the U.S. liaison for global congress coordination, aligning local needs with broader strategy while maintaining U.S. executional ownership.Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration :
Serve as the primary U.S. liaison to global Business Intelligence and Operations teams, ensuring alignment of data, strategy, and operational approaches while maintaining autonomy in U.S. execution.Represent U.S. operational needs in cross-functional forums and workstreams spanning Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Compliance, and Legal.Identify and champion opportunities for improved integration, digital enablement, and operational scalability.Requirements :
Bachelor's (BA / BS / BSN) degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PhD, or equivalent) preferred; Minimum of twelve (12) years' experience in business intelligence, commercial operations, sales operations, or marketing operations in the biopharma industry, preferably with experience in CAR T therapies; or a combination of educations and experience.Experience supporting or leading launch operations for innovative or complex therapies; Rare Disease, Transplant, CAR T or cell & gene therapy experience strongly preferred.Demonstrated leadership experience, including direct management of cross-functional teams or individuals across multiple operational workstreams.Prior experience overseeing or collaborating on government price reporting, Sunshine Act / Aggregate Spend reporting, and sales incentive compensation programs preferred.Strong track record of cross-functional collaboration, including alignment with global counterparts in a matrixed environment.Experience with market access data vendors and familiarity with payor / formulary data aggregation processes.Background in managing or supporting MLR (Medical, Legal, Regulatory) processes, speaker bureau programs, or medical grants & sponsorships is a plus.Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.Experience working cross functionally with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance.Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements governing field activities (FDA, OIG, PhRMA).Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. Remote role requiring ability to travel occasionally (10%-15%) for conferences and corporate events.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Deep understanding of biopharmaceutical compliance regulations, including government pricing, Sunshine Act, commercial compliance, and commercial operations standards.Skilled in using and overseeing systems such as Veeva, Veeva PromoMats, data analytics tools, and procurement platforms.Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate insights into clear operational actions.Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Highly collaborative, with strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder management across Medical, Legal, Compliance, Commercial, and Global teams.Demonstrated problem-solving skills, initiative, and a solution-oriented mindset, especially in ambiguous or novel situations.Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution, guiding both high-level planning and operational detail.Physical Demands :
