Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney – Chicago, Detroit, or Milwaukee

Direct Counsel is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 4–5 years of experience to join a leading national law firm. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated and complex business litigation matters alongside a highly collaborative team.

About the Role :

The ideal candidate will be a persuasive legal writer and oral advocate with hands-on experience managing cases in state and federal courts. Responsibilities include :

Handling written and document discovery

Researching and drafting pleadings, motions, and other court filings

Conducting and defending depositions

Preparing witnesses for testimony

Appearing at hearings, status conferences, and arguing motions

Supporting trial preparation and participating in settlement negotiations

What We’re Looking For :

4–5 years of business litigation experience

Strong writing and advocacy skills

Demonstrated experience in complex litigation matters

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and an exceptional work ethic

JD from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in IL, MI, or WI (depending on office location)

Compensation & Benefits :

Base salary range : $290,000 – $390,000 , commensurate with experience
