Legal Assistant / Paralegal

We are a vibrant, busy, and growing full-service law firm looking to increase its talented ranks of professional staff by adding a Legal Assistant / Paralegal with a demonstrated interest and experience of 3-5 years in an administrative capacity. This role will provide support to our Mental Health and Hygiene team in Lake Success.
Key Responsibilities :
- Drafting litigation documents including, motions, orders, and post-judgment work.
- Drafting correspondence, responses according to judicial procedures, and other related documents.
- Preparing and maintaining files in both paper and electronic forms.
- Maintain detailed calendars in Outlook, scheduling and coordinating internal and external meetings, as necessary.
- Knowledge of Guardianship pleadings and proceedings, helpful
- Manage administrative duties including but not limited to arranging conference calls, meetings, creating and maintaining paper and electronic files, miscellaneous photocopying, scanning, and printing requests.
- Create, edit, format, and proofread letters, memos, and other documents using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Request conflict checks, open new client matters, and submit electronic approvals, as needed.
- Liaise directly with clients and third parties through all phases of litigation and / or case resolution.
- Taking phone calls / accurate messages for multiple attorneys as well as handling calendars.
- Other ad hoc projects as needed.
Paralegal Requirements
Experience with drafting legal documents, through all phases of litigation, including discovery requests, RJIs, motions, stipulations, subpoenas, notices, and post-judgment papers.Experience formatting briefs, and preparing exhibit books.OCR documents.Experience with filing court documents, including e-filing in both state and federal courts (NYSCEF and ECF)Experience tracking court dates and deadlines.Must be extremely organized and able to maintain a high case volume.Eagerness to learn new skills.Must be familiar with MS Office skills (including Excel and Outlook), Adobe, West Law, Centerbase, etc.Excellent communication skills and a polished presentation are also needed.Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
At least 3-5 years of experience providing administrative support in a law firm environment.Paralegal Certificate is preferred.Excellent client service and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented.Knowledge of Centerbase or equivalent law firm billing experience is preferred but not required.Proactive and anticipatory.Solid knowledge of computers and software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Ability to think clearly and work well under pressure in a busy environment.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of staff within the office.This role is based out of Lake Success, NY.
