American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float Intermediate Care (IMC) position in Virginia, requiring a VA or compact RN license and expertise in cardiac, telemetry, and stepdown care.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in an intermediate care unit with float requirements to IMC, Telemetry 1 (cardiac), Telemetry 2 (non-cardiac), and Med / Surg unitsPatient population includes pulmonary, cardiac, trauma, and med / surg overflow, with cases involving advanced airway management, tracheostomies, ventilators, high flow O2, BIPAP, cardiac drips, chest tubes, and Zephyr ValvesWork schedule is three 12-hour day shifts (7 : 00–19 : 00), every other weekend requiredNo call requirementsUse of Epic EMR required, with EPIC training provided as neededRole involves managing complex cardiac and pulmonary conditions, including advanced airway and drip titrationFloat rotations are in line with facility policy and may include various IMC and telemetry units as well as med / surgMust be comfortable with isolation precautions and rapid response proceduresFirst day includes orientation and up to 7 hours of required modules; module completion is part of orientationSmoke and nicotine-free facilityHoliday coverage may be requiredReturn to work as a traveler requires a one-year gap from previous staff employmentTime off requests (RTO) must be submitted with application and will be approved at manager's discretion\n \n Requirements\n
Active VA or Compact RN license required at time of applicationCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredNIH Stroke Scale certification preferredMinimum experience in intermediate care, stepdown (PCU / DOU / IMC), and med / surg float requiredExperience with management of cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmias, rapid response teams, central and PICC line care, pre / post cardiac cath, cardiac drips, and heparin protocols requiredExperience with Epic EMR within the past year preferred; Epic training class must be attended unless exempt by recent prior experienceFlu vaccine required during flu season unless approved exemption is grantedCOVID vaccination or approved exemption required\n Benefits\n
