Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Remote Sign Language Interpreter K12 Education (Kansas)

Job Summary :

VocoVision is seeking a certified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to provide remote interpreting services for K12 students in Kansas public schools. This role is essential in ensuring that deaf and hard of hearing students have equal access to instruction and school-related activities in a remote learning environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Provide real-time ASL interpretation during classroom instruction, remote lessons, and school events

Interpret spoken communication from teachers and peers into ASL and voice student responses as needed

Collaborate with educators, special education staff, and school teams to support student communication needs

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct

Participate in IEP meetings to provide insights on communication access and accommodations

Utilize secure, FERPA-compliant platforms for remote service delivery

Complete required documentation, including logs and reports, in accordance with district or agency guidelines

Qualifications : Required :

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English

Current Kansas interpreter license or authorization to work in educational settings (in accordance with KSDE guidelines)

High school diploma or GED and completion of an interpreter training program

RID certification or equivalent (e.g., EIPA score of 3.5 or higher)

Proficiency with remote communication platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams

Reliable high-speed internet and professional remote work setup

Preferred :

Experience interpreting in K12 educational settings

Strong understanding of child development and educational terminology

Bachelors degree in Interpretation, Deaf Studies, or a related field

Work Environment :

This is a fully remote position. Candidates must have a dedicated, quiet home workspace and a stable internet connection. All services will be delivered through secure video conferencing platforms.
