Bickerstaff Heath Delgado Acosta seeks to add to its dedicated team of lawyers working to meet the legal needs of its public and private clients. The Litigation Associate will work as a team member with our attorneys and clients, perform substantive legal functions in client matters, maintain positive contact with clients, observe confidentiality in the firm's legal work, participate in marketing efforts, and be responsible for client development. All work will be performed under the supervision of a partner.

The Litigation Associate should have at least three years of experience handling litigation matters, including preparing motions and legal documents, and handling discovery matters, along with other aspects of a litigation practice. The Litigation Associate must possess strong communication, research, and writing skills. Additionally, the Litigation Associate must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and display excellent organization and prioritization skills.

Experience in matters involving school law and employment law are preferred but not required.

The Litigation Associate must meet the following baseline criteria :

  • Maintain membership in the Texas State Bar and complete all required Continuing Legal Education requirements on an annual basis;
  • Follow ethical requirements set forth in the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct and comply with all requirements of the firm's professional liability insurer;
  • Apply analytical skills necessary to conduct complex and detailed analysis of legal matters;
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff and provide information with courtesy and tact;
  • Possess ability to travel to private and public entities locally and statewide to meet client needs on legal matters;
  • Possess willingness and ability to travel to and attend evening client meetings;
  • Demonstrate ability to commit to time in excess of 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position;
  • Demonstrate ability to supervise legal support staff;

Demonstrate ability to apply a high level of effort while organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks under time constraints; and

Demonstrate willingness to remain up to date regarding technology and apply acquired knowledge and training to the position.
