Job Title : Assistant Director of Nursing and Medical Records

Job Overview : Legacy at Salina, under the management of Campbell Street Senior Living, is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing and Medical Records to join our team. This position plays a key role in ensuring the efficient management of nursing services and accurate medical record keeping while assisting the Director of Nursing in overseeing the clinical operations of our facility. The ideal candidate will be an experienced nurse with a passion for leadership, quality care, and regulatory compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Nursing Leadership Support : Assist the Director of Nursing in overseeing the nursing department’s operations, including direct supervision of nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Compliance : Ensure that nursing care and medical records comply with state and federal regulations, including Kansas State Board of Nursing guidelines and HIPAA.
  • Medical Record Management : Oversee the accurate and timely maintenance of medical records for residents, ensuring all documentation is completed in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Staff Education & Training : Develop and implement ongoing training programs for nursing staff to maintain high standards of care and compliance with current healthcare practices.
  • Resident Care Oversight : Conduct assessments of residents’ nursing needs, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop care plans, and ensure that care is delivered as outlined.
  • Quality Improvement : Monitor and evaluate care provided by nursing staff, implementing quality improvement measures and addressing areas of concern.
  • Staff Scheduling & Supervision : Assist in the development and implementation of nursing staff schedules, ensuring adequate staffing at all times.
  • Reporting : Prepare and maintain reports for leadership, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders regarding nursing services and medical records.
  • Resident and Family Communication : Act as a liaison between nursing staff, residents, and families, addressing any concerns related to patient care and medical records.
  • Infection Control : Ensure adherence to infection control policies and assist with managing infection control practices within the facility.
  • Clinical Documentation : Review and ensure accuracy in clinical documentation for compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance requirements.

Education Requirements :

  • Registered Nurse (RN) : Must possess a valid and current Registered Nurse license issued by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
  • Medical Records Experience : Previous experience in medical records management or a related role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification : Must be current.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed for patient care and assistance.
  • Ability to use hands for frequent gripping, grasping, and manipulating.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit and use a computer for prolonged periods for medical record documentation.
