  • Setting : Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU), large academic hospital (1,541 beds)\n
  • Employment Type : Locum tenens (Travel Nurse Practitioner Contract)\n
  • Contract Length : 6 months (February 9, 2026 – August 10, 2026)\n
  • Shifts : 3x12-hour night shifts per week (6 : 00pm – 6 : 00am), typically Tuesday–Thursday nights, with 1–2 weekends per month (flexible scheduling)\n
  • Hours per Week : 36\n
  • Hourly Pay Rate : $185 / hr\n
  • Estimated Weekly Salary : $3,880–$4,160\n
  • Patient Census : 5–6 patients per night, up to 10–12 on surgery days\n
  • Support : Full hospital support, including attending physician and fellow present on night shifts\n
  • EMR : EPIC\n
  • Travel : Roundtrip airfare, rental car, and housing provided for traveling healthcare professionals\n

    • \n\nQualifications – Acute Care Nurse Practitioner\n \n

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) in a pediatric cardiac ICU or critical care setting\n
  • Board Certification : Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C)\n
  • Active state NP or PA license preferred (willing to license qualified candidates)\n
  • DEA and CSR required\n
  • Certifications : PALS and ACLS required\n
  • Proficiency with EPIC EMR\n
  • Advanced procedural skills : central line placement, intubation, arterial line placement; experience with pacer wires a plus\n
  • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills\n
  • References required from physicians at every facility in practice history\n
  • Must not reside in Connecticut during assignment\n
  • No background issues accepted\n

  • Provide expert clinical care to pediatric cardiac ICU patients, including bedside rounding and management of complex cases\n
  • Perform advanced procedures : central line placement, intubation, arterial line placement, and assist with pacer wires as needed\n
  • Collaborate with surgeons, attending physicians, fellows, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team\n
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR\n
  • Participate in flexible scheduling, including some weekend coverage\n
  • Commit to a full 6-month locum tenens assignment, delivering consistent, high-quality patient care\n
