As a Special Education Resource Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing specialized support and instruction to students with diverse learning needs. You will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that facilitate the academic and social development of students with disabilities. Special Education Resource Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
- Individualized Instruction : Provide targeted instruction tailored to the unique needs of each student with disabilities, adapting teaching strategies, materials, and assessments accordingly.
- IEP Development : Collaborate with IEP teams to create, review, and revise individualized education plans (IEPs) that outline goals, accommodations, and support services.
- Inclusive Education : Promote an inclusive classroom environment by facilitating peer interactions, offering support to classroom teachers, and ensuring accessibility for all students.
- Progress Monitoring : Regularly assess student progress, collect data, and adjust instructional strategies to meet individual goals and objectives outlined in IEPs
- Professional Development : Stay current with best practices in special education, attend relevant workshops and training sessions, and continuously improve your knowledge and skills.
- Behavior Management : Implement behavior intervention strategies and techniques as needed to address challenging behaviors and foster a positive classroom environment.
Special Education Resource Teacher Requirements and Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.State Certification : Valid teaching certification in Special Education from the state or jurisdiction in which you will be working.
