Job Title

The main purpose of this job is to solicit new business opportunities with community banks and other financial institutions within assigned regional territories and support new business development and client servicing within our commercial coverage territories.

Essential Functions :

  • Solicit new business opportunities with community banks and other financial institutions within assigned regional territories by utilizing a consultative sales approach to introduce investment products and related services to engage with executive management to build relationships and grow market presence.
  • Manage book of business curated through business development efforts including Community Banks, Money Managers, Public Entities, and other financial institutions.
  • Work with senior sales, trading, and asset liability management teams to learn the skills necessary to speak with portfolio managers at banks and other institutions.
  • Market fixed income products and related services to reach annual production goals.
  • Assist senior sales representatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

  • Basic knowledge of the banking and / or finance industry.
  • Ability to learn fixed income product sets.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed sales skills.
  • Ability to travel to meet with clients and prospects in person to facility building trusted relationships.
  • Ability to assist with managing complex relationship sales cycles.
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and meet Commerce Bank's driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements.
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values.
  • Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
  • Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship or Economics, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 1+ years financial services industry experience required.
  • 2+ years outbound sales experience preferred.
  • Commissioned sales experience preferred.
  • Experience with Bloomberg preferred.
  • SIE, Series 52, 7, and 63 registration or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire.
  • Licensed to join a Bank Dealer and / or FINRA Broker Dealer required.
