Job Title : Sales Engineer - Residential Bidirectional EV Chargers
Position Summary
We're looking for a Sales Engineer with technical energy systems experience and a strong customer focus to support the sale and installation of residential bidirectional EV chargers.
This role will work cross-functionally with OEM Energy project managers, product managers, support staff, customers and sales personnel to deliver quality experience for our clients.
The sales engineer will work externally with suppliers, relevant project approvers, and installers to integrate hardware, software, and energy systems.
Key Responsibilities Pre-Sales Support :
- Collaborate with sales teams to deliver technical expertise during customer
- Perform site assessments (virtual or on-site) to evaluate installation feasibility and identify requirements.
Technical Solution Design :
Develop and present tailored solutions for residential bidirectional charging, incorporating home energy systems, such as solar and storage.Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and installation guidelines for clients and installers.Utility & Energy Provider Collaboration :
Engage with utilities, aggregators, and energy service providers to complete interconnection applications, assist with permitting questions, and relevant processes.Organize and conduct witness testing to secure interconnection approvals and ensure compliance with utility standards.Installer & Partner Enablement :
Work alongside the Project Managers to support installers through technical project scoping, training, material distribution, and troubleshooting where required.Ensure installers possess a thorough understanding of bidirectional charger specifications, communication protocols, and safety standards.Customer Education & Support :
Articulate technical concepts to non-technical customers, highlighting the advantages of bidirectional charging, ESS capabilities, and vehicle-to-home (V2H) or vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities.Provide post-installation technical support as needed.Compliance & Standards :
Guarantee all proposed solutions adhere to National Electrical Code, utility interconnection requirements, and cybersecurity standards.Work with approvers (AHJ) to resolve / amend project documentation to prepare for and secure successful project commissioning.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Sales Conversion Rate :
Proportion of technical consultations resulting in successful installations.Installer Readiness :
Number of installers trained and certified for bidirectional charger installations.Customer Satisfaction :

Percentage of interconnection applications approved without resubmission.Qualifications Education :
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a relevant technical discipline (or equivalent experience).Experience :
Minimum 4 years in technical sales, applications engineering, or field engineering; experience in EVSE, energy storage, or renewable energy preferred.Familiarity with bidirectional charging standards (e.g., ISO 15118), utility interconnection procedures, and home energy systems.Skills :
Exceptional technical communication and presentation abilities.Capacity to convey complex technical concepts in accessible terms for customers.Proficiency with CAD tools, electrical design software, and CRM systems.Salesforce, Word, ExcelLucid Chart with Projects / DiagramsCertifications :
