What we do The role of Director, Associate General Counsel, Privacy offers an opportunity to join a growing international legal team working on unique legal issues at the forefront of the adtech industry in a vibrant, fast‑paced environment. You will be part of a global company building critical privacy‑focused technologies that replace third‑party cookies and establish a trusted advertising ecosystem for the open internet.
What you’ll do As a talented, self‑motivated, and experienced attorney excited to tackle complex legal projects, you will exercise sound, independent legal judgment in high‑stakes circumstances and stay current with the ever‑changing data governance landscape related to advertising technology globally. The main focus of this role will be to work on the company’s data governance program and act as the main legal advisor for the Information Security team. This is a global role covering North America and Europe, with high opportunity for growth for the right candidate.
Draft and maintain external data privacy disclosures (privacy policies and other public data compliance / security statements) and internal privacy documentation (DPIAs, ROPAs, LIAs) related to the company’s data processing activities.
Collaborate with Information Security, Trust & Safety, and other cross‑functional data teams to identify opportunities to enhance internal legal policies governing personal data and draft and maintain policies such as data retention, cross‑border data transfers, and data access controls.
Counsel the Product team on associated data compliance product designs (data access / deletion and opt‑out tools).
Build and standardize internal information sharing and record‑keeping workflows with respect to personal data processed by the company, in close collaboration with privacy and data governance colleagues, product counsel, and commercial data attorneys (including the DPO and cross‑functional teams).
Legally support the Information Security team on all personal data‑related matters, such as advising on data breach and incident response policies, providing ongoing legal support on data incident management, and helping review SOC1 / SOC2 certification submissions and other external security statements.
Who you are Education : J.D. degree from an ABA‑accredited law school. Bar : Must be a member in good standing of an applicable state.
Experience : 12+ years of legal experience. Extensive experience developing and maintaining data governance and / or privacy compliance programs. In‑depth knowledge of US state privacy laws (e.g., CPRA) and European privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR and E‑Privacy). Some exposure to legal issues and self‑regulatory frameworks in the Information Security space. Experience understanding and working with highly complex dataflows and elaborate technology. Familiarity with legal issues impacting the digital advertising ecosystem is preferred.
