American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg night shift position in an acute care setting with a 2-year experience requirement and a valid ND or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

Work in a 30-bed Med / Surg unit in an acute care hospital setting

Patient population includes surgical cases such as total joint replacement, spinal and abdominal surgeries, urology, bariatrics, and medical overflow

Night shift position with 12-hour shifts

Every other weekend required

Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 5-6 on nights

Uses Epic EMR system

Floating to medical and telemetry units required, with support for cardiac monitoring

Occasional exposure to set-rate drips including heparin, PCA pumps, and TPN

First to float among staff, with traveler prioritization

Role involves bedside shift reporting and frequent use of surgical drains, hemovacs, and colostomies

Team-oriented work environment with a charge nurse typically available each shift

Patient care techs support the unit

Any color scrubs allowed

Holiday coverage expected as needed

RTO of 7 days or less must be requested up front for each 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved

Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility

Candidates may not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Active ND or compact RN license at time of consideration—pending licenses not accepted

Current BLS certification required

Minimum of 2 years of recent Med / Surg RN experience

Surgical, post-op, and early ambulation experience preferred

Ability to provide two professional references : one supervisor reference from the past 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 years

Copy of valid driver’s license required
