Description :
The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The RN focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care.
Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are key responsibilities.
The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit.
The RN promotes personal development emphasizing evidence-based practice and education.
The RN supervises both licensed and non-licensed staff members.
Using the principles of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
The RN prioritizes patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN utilizes educational and professional experiences to deliver quality care.
Mentoring and precepting staff are integral aspects of the role.
Key responsibilities include :
Assessment : Performs assessments and reassessments per policy or as warranted by patient condition.
Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Development & Implementation : Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care.
Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services.
Utilizes resources appropriately to support the organization's and patients' needs.
Evaluation : Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions.
Education : Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
Leadership : Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Functions as a mentor and preceptor.
Encourages and facilitates teamwork.
Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.
Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts.
Complies with regulatory standards.
Participates in practice governance.
