Job Summary :

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients within Boise Hospital. This role involves managing respiratory equipment, performing treatments, assisting with intubations, and ensuring patient safety across multiple care areas.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage all respiratory therapy equipment, treatments, patient transport, and ABGs (no EKGs).
  • Provide care for adult, pediatric, and NICU patients as assigned.
  • Assist (not independently perform) with intubations.
  • Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, and lead therapists to ensure optimal respiratory care.
  • Cover various inpatient areas as needed (adult RTs do not cover pediatrics; pediatric RTs may cover adults).
  • Utilize equipment including Draeger (adult vents), Servo U (Peds), V60 BiPAPs, Vapotherm, Optiflow, Philips Cough Assist, HillRom Vest, Metaneb, and ResMed CPAP.
  • Attend 2–3 shifts of unit-specific orientation (additional shifts for ICU, Peds, or NICU coverage).
  • Float as needed to Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center.

    • Requirements :

  • Experience :

    • RRT : Minimum 2–3 years of experience

  • CRT : Minimum 3–5 years of experience
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • NICU RTs must know how to perform NAVA (Naturally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) on Servo vents
  • Certifications :

    • Adults : BLS, ACLS

  • Pediatrics : BLS, PALS
  • NICU : BLS, NRP
  • RRT preferred; CRT accepted with required experience
  • Shift : 7 : 00 AM – 7 : 30 PM or 7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM
  • Schedule : Created by scheduler; block scheduling accommodated when possible
  • Weekends : Every other weekend required
  • Holidays : Required if contracted during holidays
  • Call : None
  • Staffing : 15–20 RTs on day shift; 10–12 RTs on night shift
  • Dress Code : Any clean and professional scrub color
