The Shift Leader is a year-round, non-live-in role reporting to Residential Managers and the Residential Director.They provide direct care, oversee daily residential operations, and guide and direct DSP staff to ensure routines and tasks are completed.The Shift Leader fosters an inclusive community, supports individualized student skill development, and handles confidential information with discretion.They also assist with Campus Life programs, events, and other responsibilities as needed. Coordinate daily care for residential students by overseeing DSP and 1 :
1 staff. Act as a liaison between residential staff and managers. Mentor and guide DSPs and 1 : 1 staff, supporting professional growth and development. Orient and train new staff to foster competence and confidence. Build and maintain respectful, trusting relationships with students, addressing their unique needs and goals. Enforce policies and procedures to promote an inclusive and respectful community. Handle administrative tasks, including move-ins / outs, logs, reports, intervention plans, and progress tracking. Assist staff in de-escalating student crises following established protocols. Report emergencies promptly according to policies. Assign staff for programming and activities based on student needs outlined in ITEPs and other plans. Mentor students on life skills, collaborating with faculty and clinicians as needed. Support student ITEPs and development goals, documenting progress. Ensure students adhere to daily schedules and activities. Attend mandatory meetings and training as scheduled / required. Support departmental responsibilities as needed. Experience & Education :
Minimum 2 years in high-demand customer service or human services required Experience in crisis management, de-escalation, and customer service. required Assistance with hygiene and personal care activities. required High school diploma / GED required Bachelor's degree in related field preferred 3+ years in high demand / high-volume customer service or human services position; EMT / EMS, CNA / HHA / PCA experience is preferred. Experience as a shift leader or in a related leadership position preferred Experience working with neurodiverse children, adolescents, or young adults in residential settings required Experience Handling aggressive clients / customers. Experience assisting with hygiene and personal care activities preferred Skills & Abilities : Strong critical thinking, information retention, and crisis decision-making skills, especially during crisis / under pressure. Ability to coordinate, supervise, develop, and engage new and existing DSP staff Strong judgment for daily role coordination. Exceptional written (documentation, reports) and verbal communication abilities. Ability to maintain confidentiality, multitask, and collaborate with frequent disruptions / interruptions present Ability to complete and maintain TCIS and other required training. Flexibility with work hours. Knowledge of crisis prevention, intervention strategies, and behavior plans. Familiarity with administrative processes and operations.
