Visscher Construction & Restoration is a growing, family-owned construction company located in West Michigan. We focus on residential building as well as some commercial work, including new builds, additions, exteriors, and insurance mitigation & restoration.

Job Overview

We are looking to hire a General Laborer to support our carpenters and project manager in completing construction projects efficiently and safely. This is an entry-level positiondesigned for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. General laborers play a key role in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe job site while assisting with various tasks such as material handling, site preparation, and equipment operation.

The right candidate will be eager to learn, dependable, and willing to take on a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall success of the project. This role provides a foundation for career growth into skilled trade positions such as carpenter.

Team Member Screening - At Visscher Construction, we take pride in bringing dignity back to the trades, with our Heads Held High (a core value we call "The 3 H's"). As part of that goal, we require rigorous screening on all applicants before making a final job offer. This includes passing the following screenings :

  • Motor vehicle report (we require proof of a valid drivers license and will review past driving records)
  • Candidate must also have reliable transportation to and from work
  • County / State / National criminal background check
  • Credit report screening
  • Substance-abuse screening

Role-Specific Requirements (General Laborer)

  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced carpenters and project managers
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, forklifts, skid loaders, and other equipment
  • Load and unload construction supplies from trucks and distribute them to the appropriate location on-site
  • Clean and prepare construction sites, including erecting scaffolding, removing debris, and properly disposing of waste materials
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean job site by properly handling and storing materials, removing tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the site daily
  • Follow all safety procedures and immediately report violations to the project manager or safety supervisor

    • Location : Ludington, MI and surrounding area

    Hours : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 am - 5 : 00 pm (actual hours will vary by season or projects).

    Compensation : Starting wages at $14 - $20 per hour plus overtime
