Description of Responsibilities

The Lead Authorization Coordinator is responsible for all new referral insurance verification and / or authorization in a timely matter.

Scope of Supervision

None

Responsibilities include the following :

• Responsible for insurance verification and / or authorization on patients.
• Responsible for transcribing information from the Intake Referral Form and patient information received from the referral source into the computer system correctly. This includes but is not limited to : demographics, insurance, physician, nursing agency, diagnosis, height, weight, and allergies (when information is available and as applicable).
• Handles faxes as appropriate and as applicable.
• Re-verification of insurance and demographics on all restart patients.
• Provide day-to-day direction for the Authorization team.
• Assignment of tasks / projects for the Authorization team.
• Assist in training / development of team members.
• Serve as the focal point for technical questions.
