Join Our Team as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)
Department : Emergency Medical Services
Location : St. Lawrence Health Systems
Hours Per Week : Per Diem
Schedule : Variable shifts / days, including weekends and holidays; 12-hour shifts
About the Role
As an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician , you will be at the forefront of emergency care, providing immediate medical assistance and ensuring safe transport for patients in critical situations. Your expertise will play a vital role in stabilizing patients and delivering them to medical facilities.
Your Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency calls, assess patients’ conditions, and determine the best medical interventions.
- Safely transport patients while monitoring their condition and providing necessary care during transit.
- Administer life-saving measures such as CPR, bleeding control, and airway management within your Scope of Practice.
- Utilize essential medical equipment, including defibrillators and oxygen delivery systems.
- Collaborate with paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement, and hospital staff for coordinated patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient care reports, documenting assessments, treatments, and responses.
- Ensure emergency vehicles and medical equipment are clean and ready for use.
- Interpret instructions and calculate necessary medical ratios.
- Lift and move patients in challenging environments, including extreme terrains.
- Engage in continuous education to stay updated with medical protocols and enhance your skills.
- Maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work in various uncontrolled and potentially hazardous environments (indoor / outdoor, inclement weather).Maintain physical readiness to assist in lifting / moving patients and medical equipment.Navigate uneven terrain and emergency conditions.Transport essential medical equipment without assistance.Stay calm and focused in high-stress, emotionally charged situations.Required Qualifications
NYS AEMT certificationAHA BLS for Healthcare Provider certificationClean and active NYS Driver's LicenseAbility to exert significant physical force (50-100 lbs occasionally, 25-50 lbs frequently)Preferred Qualifications
Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or equivalentStrong knowledge of medical procedures and emergency care techniquesEducation & Certifications

Pay Range
$19.50 - $25.00
