Job Summary :
The Lead Fleet Diesel Mechanic will be able to inspect and troubleshoot equipment and perform necessary repairs after diagnosis. Primary job focus includes inspection, diagnosis, and repair of diesel-powered vehicles and machines, like trucks, forklifts and trailers. The Diesel Mechanic will possess in-depth knowledge of diesel engine systems, components, and their unique characteristics, thus allowing them to diagnose and repair issues specific to diesel engines.
Key Responsibilities :
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment, then perform repairs following diagnosis.
- Utilize knowledge and application of electronic diagnosis programs such as Cummins Insite, Ford FDRS and IDS, and Wabco and Bendix ABS.
- Possess basic Excel experience for data input.
- Follow all safety guidelines and ensure safety is a priority.
- Documentation of repair and maintenance.
- Demonstrate experience in maintaining tools.
- Operate efficiently and with high focus and attention to detail.
- Assist in writing safety and maintenance department procedures.
- Ability to lead a team and coach others.
- Order parts as necessary
- Demonstrate good communication skills with equipment operators, vendors, and more.
- Demonstrate flexibility to move from one job to another based-on priority
- Conduct field visits in case of fleet emergencies or malfunctions.
- Be willing to work overtime as business load requires.
- Participate in shop provided training.
- May assist warehouse staff with pulling and preparing orders for shipment, as well as receiving, verifying, staging, and stocking all incoming material.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Brake and suspension experienceAC experience (EPA 609 Certification)Welding / Fabricating experience required.Communication skills to speak with customers by telephone, email, or in-person.Strong knowledge of health and safety standards.Conflict resolution skills.Excellent time management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Knowledge of basic math and computer skills.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Must provide your own toolsAble to operate an electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles.Alert, focused, and detail oriented.Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs. at a time.Must be able to work on call as neededExpected Work Hours :
Monday – Saturday with early and extended hours required according to workload.
