About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Pediatric Psychiatric

Experience : Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing required; Pediatric Behavioral Health experience preferred

License : State License required

Certifications : BLS; MOAB (obtained on site as part of orientation)

Must-Have :

• De-escalation experience
• Experience with physical restraints
• Comfort in running groups
• Proficiency in documentation

Description : ASAP start needed.

Interviews will be simplified.

No holiday time off requests can be approved for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Candidate must be willing to float between pediatric and adult units as needed.

Shifts will consist of four days a week from 2 PM to 10 : 30 PM.

Facility has a total of 94 beds, with 50 designated for pediatric patients and 44 for adults.

Common diagnoses for pediatric patients include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria.

Adult patients are typically diagnosed with schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and may also show symptoms of eating disorders and anxiety.

Facility does not accommodate forensic patients or inmates.

Seclusion rooms are available when necessary.

Occasionally, the unit will see patients with substance use disorders or those detoxing, but they must be medically cleared.

Traditional medical and psychiatric care will be provided, alongside specialized therapies such as pet therapy, group sessions, and community gardens.

Patient ratios are as follows : RN to patient ratio during the day is 1 : 5-6, and 1 : 13 at night with resource support.

Psych Tech staff includes 6 for pediatric patients during the day and 2 during the night; adult staff includes 2 Techs each for day and night.

Support on the unit consists of a nurse supervisor available evenings and weekends, a nurse manager during the day, a house administrator available overnight and weekends, and a charge nurse, who may also have patient assignments.

Psychiatric consultations occur daily, with a psychiatrist on call from midnight to 6 AM.

The charting system used is Cerner.

Floating is required between all units, including pediatric and adult.

Weekend rotation expectations are every other weekend.

Candidates should expect to work holidays as scheduled.

Approval for time off is permissible for up to 7 days, but may require adjustments to accommodate shift coverage.

Scrub color is any solid color, provided it is professional.
