LOCATION : ARC Automotive, 1409 S Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM 87004

WEEKLY HOURS - .5 COURSE CREDIT : No more than 10 hours per week. No more than 6 hours per day, plus complete a self-reflection project and present it during the last week of the internship. Currently a 1-2 semester limit.

The internship is unpaid, and interns will not receive any financial compensation.

WHEN WORK HAPPENS : Monday through Friday, 3 : 00 PM - 5 : 00 PM unless instructed differently by your SEL Teacher / Advisor / Mentor Contact Name above.

Summary of Position

Job requirements : ARC Automotive is looking for someone who enjoys working on / repairing automotive parts. You must have good communication skills to convey messages to the technicians and customers. You will be assisting the manager with customer service as well as assisting the technicians with automotive repair. You will also be cleaning and keeping up the maintenance in the facility. You must commit to 3 hours every day consistently. This internship will be directly supervised; you will not be left unsupervised.

Job duties include, but are not limited to :

  • Adhering to safety protocols at all times
  • Making sure ARC Automotive is clean and organized
  • Assisting the technicians with automotive repairs
  • Greet customers as they come in
  • Effectively help customers

Must be :

  • Enrolled in High School or GED
  • Currently enrolled in or have completed Automotive Technology 3
  • Recommendation by Automotive Instructor
  • Hard Skills

  • Enrolled in High School or GED
  • Soft Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Organized student with a positive attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn
  • Attention to work rules and deadlines
  • Exposure & Training provided through internship

    We will teach you how to perform basic repairs on vehicles while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

  • Please speak to your SEL Teacher / Advisor / Mentor regarding working and physical conditions at your intern site. You will also be required to sign and upload a Parental Permission form. In addition, you will be required to electronically acknowledge Non-Disclosure and Internship agreements.

    As part of your application, you will be expected to fill out your emergency contact information, school, and other personal information as required by Albuquerque Public Schools Work-Based Learning programs and the New Mexico Public Education Department.
