JOB SUMMARY :
Works independently or as a member of a skilled life safety systems maintenance crew performing preventative testing, maintenance, repair, renovation and construction of campus building fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA 25 codes, state and university standards and applicable directives. Performs repairs to residential and commercial plumbing systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Customer Service and Communication top priority.
JOB DUTIES :
65% - Essential - PLUMBING MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, RENOVATION AND CONSTRUCTION : Performs maintenance, repair, renovation and construction of campus building domestic water, wastewater, steam, and other plumbing related specialty systems such as vacuum, compressed air and gas. Unstops blockages in all types of plumbing fixtures and building drains, roughs in plumbing fixtures, drain lines, copper pipe & tubing and PVC pipe and fittings according to plumbing code. Understands and interprets construction drawings (blueprints) needed to perform required plumbing tasks.
15% - Essential - Campus Domestic Water and Process Water Systems : Conducts scheduled testing, inspections, installation and maintenance of campus domestic water and process water system specialties; including pressure reducing valves, water meter, check valves, strainers, piping and other related devices. High and Low Pressure Steam Systems : Inspects, tests, maintains and repairs high and low pressure steam traps, regulators and pressure valves. Utilizes thermal imaging equipment to evaluate performance of steam and hot water systems and associated equipment. Documents test results through CMMS.
10% - Essential - Domestic and Process Water Back-flow Devices Maintenance : Conducts scheduled visual and operational inspections / testing as required by DHEC and EPA guidelines. Makes repairs as necessary to ensure compliance with DHEC standards. Maintain DHEC certification for back-flow prevention devices. Documents results using CMMS and DHEC procedures.
5% - Essential - Fire Suppression System Maintenance : Conducts scheduled inspection, testing and preventative maintenance according to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Clemson University Fire Marshal guidelines. Ensures reliability of sprinkler systems and related building fire fighting components. Documents testing, inspections, maintenance and repairs utilizing University Facilities Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
5% - Essential - Safety : Promotes a safe workplace and safe work practices. Complies with all applicable OSHA safety mandates and compliance with University LOTO policy. Complies with all EPA and DHEC rules and regulations. Promotes positive and productive relationships within and between shops.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent and experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air, water, gas or waste disposal systems.
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal
Work Experience 3+ years
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS :
Education - Vocational or Technical Training; Trade School Diploma or five years of experience.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Salary : ($35,000 - $38,985)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidates previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemsons compensation guidelines.

Essential Level 2 employee
Required to maintain / resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and / or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
