Overview
Florida International University (FIU) Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine seeks a Digital Services & Technology Librarian (DSTL), full-time, open rank, non-tenure track faculty. The DSTL is responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, and promoting the library's digital resources, services, and online presence. The role ensures seamless access to electronic materials, designs and manages the library's website, and maintains a user-friendly, current reflection of library services and resources. The position also monitors electronic resources, troubleshoots access issues, manages authentication systems for remote access, and tracks usage statistics. The DSTL serves as a primary contact for patrons and staff regarding technology-related inquiries and troubleshooting, evaluates and recommends new technologies, collaborates with library departments, IT, and external partners on digital initiatives, and participates in professional development activities. Engagement in scholarship related to digital library initiatives is encouraged and supported. Assistance with reference and teaching is expected.
The role is part of FIU’s commitment to community-based medical education and clinical care, with the Medical Library at FIU affiliated with Baptist Health and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library / Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited institution, or a Master of Science in Information Technology, with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant library experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with OpenAthens authentication, the Alma integrated library system, and Springhare applications.Proficiency in web content management systems and web editing tools (HTML, CSS); knowledge of database query tools.Proficiency with graphic design software (e.g., Photoshop or Adobe Creative Suite); ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies; experience in Academic Libraries is preferred.Job Category & Seniority
