Under the direction of Unit Director, the Monitor Technician (MT) performs unit functions such as viewing monitor screens for changes in patient cardiac rhythm and notifying the RN of any changes noted, transcribing physician orders, and other duties appropriate to the position in compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patient cardiac rhythms and respond to changes as directed by nursing staff.
- Notify the RN of any significant findings on monitor readings.
- Transcribe physician orders as required and in accordance with hospital procedures.
- Perform other unit support tasks as assigned and in compliance with policies.
Qualifications
Education : High School Diploma or GED. Education in medical terminology preferred.Experience : Previous experience in basic EKG interpretations preferred.Licenses, Certifications and / or Registrations : BLS.Equipment / Tools / Work Aids : Uses cardiac monitors, telephone, copier, fax and computer.Specialized Skills : Good verbal and written communication, time management, customer-focused skills, and ability to form effective working relationships with hospital staff.Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities / Women / Protected Veterans / Disabled
