Job Duties & KSAs

• Work in a secure, locked environment with individuals experiencing acute mental illness.
• Apply police methods, crime detection, court security, and state law enforcement practices.
• Work independently using sound judgment, resourcefulness, and tact in emergency and routine situations.
• Conduct thorough investigations, write concise reports, and process crime scenes.
• Manage, restrain, and transport aggressive or combative persons; perform lawful arrests and use firearms as needed.
• Safely operate a law enforcement / state vehicle.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing; render credible testimony in court.
• Maintain valid driver's license without court-ordered restrictions.
• Possess knowledge of human behavior, age-specific needs, and basic treatment measures for adult, developmental or geriatric populations.
• Maintain adequate vision and hearing to recognize and respond to hazardous situations; ensure facility safety.
• Document observations orally, in writing, and electronically; collaborate with staff in a team approach.
• Apply infection prevention and control practices and daily standards.
• Intervene appropriately in crisis or problem situations.
• Perform repetitive walking, standing, lifting, rebounding overhead to position, restrained, transfer, escort individuals, and assist activities of daily living.
• Work overtime during staffing emergencies.
