Mechanical Engineer - R&D

We are looking for an awesome engineer to join our Cost Reduction and Recovery department as a broad skilled R&D engineer that can contribute and lead these efforts.

We are working with various modalities, including CT, mammography, CV, and radiography. You will be joining an R&D group that works on a variety of projects and validation efforts and has a lot of fun doing it. If you can handle challenging product requirements and deadlines, work with a broad range of technical backgrounds, handle success and failure with an indomitable spirit, and work through the rigors of validation - we would love to talk to you!

Action Items

  • Identify, implement, and validate cost reduced designs and or manufacturing methods for X-ray tubes in the CT, Mammo, Radiographic and Diagnostic modalities.
  • Identify, implement and validate recovery process for components from X-ray tubes or heat exchangers.
  • Validation requires statistical analysis of identified performance criteria.
  • Document drawings, procedures, routers, etc. for cost reduction and recovery items.
  • Confirm that FDA and UL regulations are met during the process.
  • Plan and manage projects to completion.
  • 3D modeling software, statistical analysis software, Validation tools, dimensional measuring equipment, X-ray tube power equipment, and ASTM test methods will be used to complete these assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use full set of engineering disciplines and processes to develop, procure, build, test, and qualify new products.
  • Be responsible for all facets of product development as well as the accompanying documentation and regulatory required for a medical device of this type.
  • Present the results of testing and development
  • Continuously improve the development methods, test protocols, and tools.
  • Documentation verification and validation activities to meet regulatory requirements
  • Minimum requirements :

  • Demonstrated desire and ability to learn and apply what is learned
  • Strong overall general engineering skills and understanding of applied physics (we use all the mechanical and electrical disciplines, metallurgy, materials, manufacturing processes, electron beam design, and chemical cleaning and surface preparation processes)
  • Demonstrated success in driving products to market
  • Preferred requirements :

  • Experience using ANSYS, SolidWorks, and other CAE tools a plus
  • Experienced in translating customer needs into validation test methods / criteria / protocols.
  • Experience communicating with vendors as part of the efforts to perform cost reduction
  • Strong experience with manufacturing and assembly processes and methods along with experience developing electro-mechanical components and sub-systems is preferred.
  • Experience designing or manufacturing X-ray tubes or systems
  • Has familiarity with using high voltage generators
  • Has familiarity with laboratory measurement equipment
  • Ability to perform statistical analyses to justify conclusions
  • Typical Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of related experience
