Position description
The Saltzman research group in the Department of Earth System Science, University of California Irvine, seeks to hire a full time (100%) Assistant Researcher. The successful candidate will independently develop research, lead specific projects, and complete research-related tasks including writing proposals, conducting field research, laboratory experiments and modeling, publishing findings in the peer-reviewed literature, and presenting findings at scientific conferences.
Requirements include : A Ph.D in a relevant field, expertise in trace gas analysis and biogeochemical cycling of atmospheric hydrogen, experience in ice core analysis and interpretation, and knowledge of process modeling and inverse methods for gas transport in polar snow and ice. Mentoring of postdoctoral fellows, researchers, and graduate / undergraduate students is required. Polar research experience with logistics supported by the US National Science Foundation is required.
